Food! My family in Umbria produces olive oil and I enjoy sharing my passion
for wine and cooking.

What do you enjoy about being a Tour Director?

I get to meet all sorts of people from different countries. I enjoy discovering their different personalities. I love the exchanging of ideas between different cultures and explaining my own. I also enjoy teaching guests Italian.

Which is your favourite tour and why?
My favourite tour is “The Best of Italy”. This tour gives you just the right amount of time to appreciate Italy. You get to see Sorrento and Pompeii and you also have enough time to get the feel for the places visited. I like these longer tours as we all end up as a family.

Name: Alison Leech

Where are you from?
London, England

How long have you worked for Trafalgar Tours?
20 years

What languages are you able to speak?
French, German, Italian and Spanish

Do you have any interests that you like to talk about on tour?
When I take guests to Provence in France, I enjoy telling them about art history, painters and wine. I also love keeping ahead of the times, researching all the latest information about local bars, restaurants and ‘off the beaten track’ kind of places that they wouldn’t know. I love being one step ahead; it’s a challenge to make sure you know more than the guests - as with the Internet they are doing more and more research. When a guest says they have had a great time and they will come again, it makes the job more satisfying and makes me feel like I have lived up to the challenges of being a Tour Director.

What do you enjoy about being a Tour Director?
I love the job variation, no two tours are ever the same - so it’s very enjoyable. Also, to many it may seem simple to go on the Internet, book a flight and organize a tour yourself. However, when our guests travel with us they realise how much easier we make it - it's a very satisfying feeling.

Which is your favourite tour and why?
“Paris & Provence” is a favourite of mine. Although, last year I did my first Europe Express tour to Italy and France over a 2-week period and I loved it! You go on tour by train, which is different than the regular coaches.  I believe this type of  touring will become more popular.

Name: Andrée Dionne (also known as Happy Feather)

Where are you from?
Québec, Canada

How long have you worked for Trafalgar Tours?
10 years

What languages are you able to speak?
English, French, Spanish and Italian

Do you have any interests that you like to talk about on tour?
I am very fond of anthropology, particularly the fascinating Native Cultures of North America. When visitors come to our continent, they obviously want to know all about the regions they are visiting (nature, zoology, geology, history, arts). Visitors should never leave without having heard of the first inhabitants of this vast land and their great wisdom.

What do you enjoy about being a Tour Director?
This question is really easy. I like to make people HAPPY! Every day is a new adventure, and we should celebrate it with happiness.

Which is your favourite tour and why?
My favourite tour is "The Grand Tour of Canada". While we live in utter luxury, in places such as at the Banff Springs hotel, the Château Lake Louise and the Jasper Park Lodge, our hearts get filled by the beauty of western Canada, the wondrous Rockies and its wildlife. The pace is lively and yet we have time to feel the energy of the different venues.
I consider this tour to be a most romantic experience!
